Die zeitliche Struktur von Musik wird unter dem Begriff Rhythmus zusammengefasst. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschaftigt sich mit der automatischen Analyse von Rhythmus in Musik, sowohl auf der Signal- als auch auf der symbolischen Ebene. Die prasentierten Algorithmen und Modelle konnen fur die Erkennung des Musikgenres, die Sortierung von Musik anhand rhythmischer Ahnlichkeit und fur die Transkription von Schlagzeugaufnahmen verwendet werden. An geeigneter Stelle werden Verbindungen zur Sprache hergestellt. Die Anschlage der Instrumente im Musiksignal sind wichtiger Ausgangspunkt fur die zeitliche Charakterisierung von Musik. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden verschiedene Algorithmen fur die automatische Erkennung der Anschlage aus dem Musiksignal vorgestellt und diese auf der umfangreichen, im Zuge dieser Arbeit erstellten, R60-Datenbank evaluiert. Uber die Abstande der ermittelten Anschlage konnen Anschlagsabstandshistogramme erstellt werden, welche eine metrische Beschreibung des Musiksignals ermoglichen. Auf der Grundlage der Histogramme ist die automatische Erstellung einer Abspielliste, welche fur einen Anfragetitel rhythmisch ahnliche Titel empfiehlt, moglich. Der Rhythmus in westlicher popularer Musik ist wesentlich durch das Schlagzeug gepragt. Es wird die Transkription von Trommeln und Becken eines Schlagzeugs vorgestellt. Weil die zeitliche Anordnung der Trommeln und Becken nicht zufallig ist, kann ihre Abfolge auf der symbolischen Ebene, ahnlich dem Sprachmodell aus der Spracherkennung, modelliert werden. Erstmalig wird dafur die Verwendung von gewichteten endlichen Automaten im Bereich der Musik vorgestellt. Ausgangspunkt ist die Uberlegung, dass ein Takt durch die Abfolge der gespielten Noten gekennzeichnet ist. Die Plausibilitat des Modells wird anhand eines Experiments zur Genreerkennung gezeigt.
